The subject and medium is up to you as long as work is in black and white.  We are planning a month-long display/exhibit to coincide and occur at the end of the show dates, so sculpture or other medium that needs pedestal display may be more limited.

Whet Your Palette: Social Commentary Exhibit Opening

Gender equality, Mountain Valley Pipeline, cancer awareness, war, the effect of loneliness, poverty, cultural identity, social media. This show will tackle issues and through art, spark discussion about the world around us. Live music provided by Mark Edward Jones. Whet Your Palette: Drawing & Sculpture Exhibit Opening

Please join us WEDNESDAY, MAY 9 for an opening of our Drawing & Sculpture exhibit. On display will be some incredible sculptures including wood, alabaster, clay and more. To complement this medium and to showcase the varied process of sketching, on display will also be drawings and sketches in pen, crayon, pencil and more. This multi-faceted show features:

Whet Your Palette: Transportation Exhibit Opening

Join us February 7 for our exhibit on all things transportation, featuring railroad photography by Kirk Carter, paintings by Marie Collier, travel photography from India by Alex Crookshanks, travel journal paintings by Zoe Katz, the “Train Diaries” series by printmaker and photographer L.S. King, travel photography from Cuba by Susan Lockwood, and prints and paintings by Michele Walter.

A Special Evening at The Artful Lawyer: The NRV Through an Artist’s Eye Exhibit

On October 4, join us for an artful tour of the New River Valley as seen through the eyes of 52 local artists! Heavy hors d’oeuvres, drinks, music, and silent auction for the original works all included, with exclusive buy-it-now opportunity for attendees for each of the works being auctioned. Judging and Artist Awards at 7pm. Silent auction continues on Friday, October 6 during the downtown Art Walk, closing at 8pm. This is a paid ticketed event, with any proceeds beyond costs of the event going into the NRV Art & Book Project fund.

Whet Your Palette: Cartoons & Pop Art Exhibit

January 2016 Show Join us on Wednesday, January 20 for our first exhibit of 2016! We’ve got pixelated and pop art from Alexander Crookshanks, tattoo designs from Roger LaDouceur, and cartoon work from Kiki Schirr and Justin Wood, plus artwork to fit our theme from Blacksburg Middle, Gilbert Linkous Elementary, and Harding Avenue schools.

Justin Craig will be here with his Brazilian Group and we will reprise our Artful Raffle throughout the evening as well! We look forward to seeing you there!

Whet Your Palette: Portraits Exhibit

Join us on Wednesday, April 15 as we celebrate the expressive truth and allure of the human face and figure as portrayed by Richard Allnutt, Mike Wilson of Bohemian Robot Photography, Leslie Roberts Gregg, Ava White Howard, Allie Kelley, and Felta Virginia, PLUS art from Blacksburg Middle School & Harding Avenue Elementary School.
